In the words of Maya Angelou, another Great Tree has fallen. Bishop Christopher Senyonjo of Uganda has died.

The Bishop lived a life that demonstrated the profound difference one person can make when guided by faith and compassion. When LGBTQ+ Ugandans were rejected, criminalized, and vilified, Bishop Christopher chose not silence or safety, but love. He listened, counseled, and reminded those whom society had condemned that they, too, were created in the image of God and worthy of dignity and respect. For that conviction, he lost his pension, his standing within the Church of Uganda, and endured years of criticism and threats. He accepted those sacrifices with remarkable grace, believing that faith without compassion was incomplete.

With the enormity of a funeral and other community events for so many that are grieving the loss of this Great Tree, several folks throughout the world have come together with the Rustin Fund and Sexual Minorities Uganda (SMUG) to set up a fundraising campaign.  Please give as you can.  All donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law in the United States.
